Rabia Vaughns MMS, PA-C
Functional Medicine Specialist
Rabia Vaughns is a certified physician assistant who runs the medical portion of Hamilton Mill Family Complete Care. Through her own personal frustrations with the limitations of the health care system she was inspired to become a physician assistant and deliver the type of health care she always desired as a patient.
Since beginning her career as a physician assistant she has had the opportunity to practice in a variety of settings, including family medicine, women’s health and various integrated medical offices in Georgia. Prior to coming to work with Hamilton Mill Family Complete Care, she had the wonderful opportunity to work with and learn from Dr. Taz Bhatia, MD at the nationally recognized Atlanta Center for Holistic and Integrative Medicine. Her diverse medical experience has shaped her unique approach to patient care.
Rabia practices an integrative approach to medical care which can has been termed “functional medicine”. She works to offer solutions to the crippling numbers of individuals suffering with chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression/anxiety, digestive disorders and autoimmune diseases. She accomplishes this by shifting the focus from managing each symptom separately with “a pill for ever ill” approach, to identifying and addressing the underlying root causes of disease. By treating the root cause she is able to help people truly find their way back to health.
She utilizes comprehensive health histories, physical examinations and a wide array of progressive diagnostic modalities including hormonal, nutritional, metabolic, immunologic and genetic testing to identify “functional” imbalances. She then develops a comprehensive, personalized treatment approach based on each individual’s findings. It is her goal to partner with her patients to help guide them down a path of wellness.
Rabia is one of 25 practitioners in the state having completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice training with the Institute for Functional Medicine. She also frequently attends conferences, lectures, and other trainings related to functional medicine so she can offer her patients the most progressive approach to medical care.
As a resident of Buford, GA, she has an interest in widening access to integrative medicine and promoting health in her community. She also enjoys travelling, snuggling her dogs, romping around on her 8-acre farm, making jewelry, gardening and spending time with her husband, family and friends.View Our Testimonials
